Welcome in my studio! My name is Julia Sequoia, the eco-conscious artist behind SEQUOIA HANDCRAFTED, nestled on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. As a dedicated paper and watercolor paint maker, my journey unfolds through a tapestry of creativity, sustainability, and the joy of sharing my passion with the world.

I am devoted teacher, a student at Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver (currently on pause – my days simply don't have enough hours!) and a proud mom to three young adults.

I practice the art of handmade papermaking using traditional techniques. I use waste materials, transforming old paper, books, packaging, and more into unique sheets of handmade paper. Each creation bears the imprint of my hands, pulled onto couching cloths with a textured finish and naturally deckled edges. The process ensures every sheet is unique, with some crafted with botanical and natural elements for muted tones and texture.

I craft watercolor exclusively from pure pigment and my own binder. Each small batch of paint is meticulously hand-mulled in my studio, layered in pans (4 to 6 times), with each layer drying before the next. This intricate process spans several weeks. All paints are poured fresh, without any fillers or extenders. Exceptional quality, pure creativity! My ECO-PAINT line is crafted, integrating the same pure ingredients with soil mixed into the process. The eco-pods are molded without plastic, in a rounded shape, providing an optimal choice for environmentally conscious artists and crafters.

Beyond paper and paint making, I extend my craft to creative journals, cards, calendars and other sustainable paper products.

Thank you for joining me on this Adventure of sustainable creativity and welcome in my World!
